Lifting has become a regular part of my workout routine (yay!) and I'm starting to move more weight each time I hit the gym. Though I've tried some lifting gloves in the past with success, I'm actually afraid I'll wear out the grips pretty soon, and have been looking for additional pairs to use on a rotation in the interest of keeping my gear alive longer. I've also started looking for wrist wraps, as my workout routine contains several exercises that have been putting an increased strain on my wrists and causing some uncomfortable pain. I found both items on my wishlist at Sparkle & Sweat - and it should be no surprise that I zeroed in on some of the most brightly colored, adorably patterned gear on the face of the planet!

Sparkle & Sweat has so many incredibly cool glove designs, it was hard to choose a favorite! I actually listed my top three choices and asked them to surprise me. When I opened my Universe gloves, I was ecstatic! They're beautiful, and they go with all of my other crazy workout clothing! I ordered a size small, as that is typically what I would wear, but found them to be a little bit too big for even my tiny hands! The website has a disclaimer on every glove page warning that the sizing runs a little large, but I don't recall seeing that back when I ordered these in October. It's very possible I was so distracted by the awesome patterns that I just plain missed the disclaimer! I'm able to use the gloves but definitely prefer a more snug fit. Still, they did the job and kept my hands cushioned on the weights while increasing my grip. After all, that's the whole point!
There are far fewer designs for the wrist wraps, which made my Pink Splatter choice very easy! Unlike other wrist wraps I've tried in the past, these wraps are 100% fabric - no clunky metal ring to loop through and have pressing into your wrist while you exercise! Instead there is an elastic ring for your thumb to serve as an anchor, then you just wrap the reinforced fabric around your wrist as tight as you need and latch it down with the strong Velcro. I've worn these wraps on lifting days for some extra support and they are certainly effective, though I think my favorite use for them is in my POUND classes! Drumming can cause a lot of repeated wrist motions, even when you're trying to lever from your elbow instead (in POUND, that increases how much of your arm activates for a better workout). Wearing wrist wraps helps me keep my wrists locked, which has eliminated a good deal of wrist pain from my post-class exhaustion.
Not only would I recommend both products for their effectiveness (as long as you heed the sizing warnings!) and their amazing selection of prints and patterns, but Sparkle & Sweat also happens to be one of the most affordable sources for gloves and wraps I've ever seen! If you're in the market for some lifting accessories, make Sparkle & Sweat your first stop. I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy another pair of gloves (maybe extra smalls this time) even if it's just to have another stylish pair on backup if I lose my primary gloves - how about tye dye this time??
