My current little guy from Nathan Sports.
I hear a lot of things about hydration packs and water bottle belts - I think that's a little intense for me at this time. I'm not in marathon training mode or heading out into the wilderness where survival might be increasingly difficult. For my neighborhood and race running, having bottles strapped to my hips seems unnecessary.
After a lot of research, well, I still don't know what belt I would actually want! Currently, the best-looking option has got to be the Flip-Belt, with its width and the all-around pocket with room for ALL your running goodies!
Innit preeeeeeeety?
For now, I can still get by with my little Nathan pouch, but Flip-Belt - I'm coming for ya!
Have a go-to running pouch? Why do you like it? What made you pick that one originally? I need help!
I really would like the flip belt too! Right now, my Nathan hydration belt has storage, so that's working pretty good for me ! :)
ReplyDeleteHow far do you feel is an appropriate time/distance to need hydration with you?
DeleteIf you have to go belt - I would go flip belt. I've had both a spibelt (tossed it at mile 18 of the chicago marathon last year) and a flip belt, and it's flip belt for the win! Just make sure you put the holes on the inside, or you'll lose some gu's along the way. If you want to go truly hands free and you don't mind a running skirt - I would check out sparkle skirts. They have two HUGE pockets - like 4 packs of shot bloks per pocket on the thigh and then a pocket on the waist that holds keys and phones. It's a life changer. Hope this helps!
ReplyDeleteOh goodness, I totally forgot - I just bought a Gym Girl Ultra skirt from Skirt Sports and it has several awesome pockets! I'll have to test those out first!
DeleteThanks for the great reminder :D
I have never had any luck with belts. They are always sliding off my waist and I have to keep yanking them up while I run. Or, they get too heavy and the things I'm carrying move around too much. When I go on long runs I use a wrist pocket (My favorite: http://sprigs.com/banjees/classic-banjees/) and I pack some cash, a credit card, an id and maybe a gu. Then, I just plan routes that stop by drinking fountains so I don't have to carry my water.
ReplyDeleteI would love to know what ends up working for you! :)
I struggled with the right tightness and placement of my current belt for weeks before I figured out the optimal arrangement. They're definitely tough!
DeleteI'd never seen these wrist pocket things before, but that's a really cool solution! Might have to give one a try...
I have a spibelt, a flipbelt, and a hipsister.
ReplyDeleteThe flipbelt is great in how much it holds but I find that in practice I have a harder time getting stuff out. The hipsister isn't meant to have stuff in it you get out quickly but it is cute, for sure.
I end up defaulting to the spibelt...the zipper just make it easier and it has become what I reach for. They make a large size too.
Oooooh good to know, thank you for sharing! I still haven't picked one, but I'm definitely going to need something before the next race season starts!
